Meet the team behind MG2 Cricket

Passionate about all things cricket

Marty and Megan are partners in MG2 Cricket and have been married since September 1989. Both are still club cricket players and have a huge passion for the game. To visit their home and workshop is like visiting a cricket showroom and museum; everything on display is about cricket and for cricketers. From the collection of Signed bats and shirts from international and first-class players, to caps from all the teams and clubs they have played in over the years. Megan also has several hundred books, you guessed it – mainly about cricket.

Megan Graham

Megan played representative cricket for over 25 years for her beloved Hawkes Bay, along with first class cricket for 18 years for the Central District Women’s team. As a youngster, she was selected for an internal tour with the NZ U23’s team and was in the New Zealand squads as well on several occasions for both Cricket and Football (soccer), however never quite made the step up to play for her country at senior level.

Even since retirement from both football and representative cricket she was still involved as Manageress for the Central Districts Hinds and the Hawkes Bay women’s football teams and remains a firm supporter. Recently Megan was awarded life membership of Hawkes Bay Cricket (the first women to achieve this status) after her many, many years of service on and off the field. Megan has mentioned how overwhelmed she was when receiving this award but also how proud she now feels about this achievement.

Marty Graham

Somewhat by default Marty has been involved in women’s representative cricket on a coaching and management basis for many years. Marty’s specific knowledge is in cricket
equipment; bats in particular. He operated a workshop in his garage doing repairs for over 15 years, before taking on an apprenticeship and becoming a qualified bat maker. Marty specifically likes to keep up to date with changes in technology in the market place comparing and analysing bats and equipment from season to season.

He is well known and acknowledged by many first class and international players as being a world-class bat maker and his background knowledge and experience in cricket is a great advantage in his personal dealings with these players.
